Refunds & cancellations
Last updated: 15 September 2026
1. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this policy, or in our Terms & Conditions, excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Those rights apply in addition to anything written here, and they cannot be contracted out of.
Under the Australian Consumer Law, services must be:
- Provided with due care and skill.
- Fit for the purpose you told us about.
- Delivered within a reasonable time, where no time was agreed.
If we fail to meet one of those guarantees, you have rights regardless of the time limits or conditions described elsewhere in this policy:
- Minor problem: we are entitled to a reasonable opportunity to fix it. If we refuse, or take too long, you can have it fixed elsewhere and recover reasonable costs from us, or cancel and seek a refund.
- Major failure: you can cancel the service and obtain a refund for the unused portion, or keep the service and seek compensation for the difference in value. You may also be entitled to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
More information is available from the ACCC at accc.gov.au/consumers or Consumer Affairs Victoria at consumer.vic.gov.au.
2. Deposits
A 20 percent deposit is required to secure a booking for:
- All ceramic coating packages, and
- Any service valued at $899 and above.
Services under $899 do not require a deposit.
3. Cancelling a booking
| When you cancel | What happens to the deposit |
|---|---|
| 24 hours or more before the booking | Fully refunded to you. |
| Less than 24 hours before the booking | Forfeited, because the time has been held for you and is unlikely to be filled at short notice. |
To cancel, call 0434 889 598 or email detail@faroutdetailz.com.au. The cancellation takes effect from when you contact us, so please call if you are close to the 24 hour mark.
If exceptional circumstances mean you have to cancel at short notice, tell us. We will consider genuine hardship on a case by case basis.
4. Rescheduling
If you reschedule rather than cancel, your deposit transfers to the new appointment date. There is no fee for rescheduling.
5. Weather and circumstances outside your control
Mobile detailing depends on weather. If conditions prevent safe or effective work, we will contact you to reschedule and your deposit transfers to the new date at no penalty. You will never lose a deposit because of weather, equipment failure on our side, or any other cancellation we initiate.
If we cancel a booking and you do not want to reschedule, your deposit is refunded in full.
6. If you are not happy with the work
Tell us. We would much rather fix it than have you drive away unhappy.
- Contact us as soon as you notice a problem. Raising it within 24 hours of completion helps us, because it is easier to tell what happened during the service and what happened afterwards.
- We will arrange to inspect the vehicle, usually by returning to you.
- Where the issue is something we should have done better, we will re-do that part of the work at no charge.
The 24 hour guideline above is a practical request, not a deadline on your legal rights. If a problem only becomes apparent later, or if the service failed to meet a consumer guarantee, section 1 of this policy still applies.
7. How refunds are paid
Approved refunds are returned by the same method you paid with wherever possible, or by bank transfer where that is not practical. We aim to process refunds within 5 business days of agreeing to them. Your bank may take a few days longer to show the funds.
8. What is not covered
Subject always to section 1, we do not provide refunds for:
- Pre-existing damage disclosed in the pre-service inspection, such as existing scratches, dents, failing clear coat, or deteriorated trim.
- Normal re-soiling of a vehicle after the service, including rain marks, road grime, new bird droppings or new interior spills.
- Deterioration of a ceramic coating caused by incorrect aftercare, automatic car washes, or failure to maintain the coating as advised.
- Results that were explained as not achievable before the work started. Where paint is too thin or too damaged to correct safely, we will tell you before we begin.
- A change of mind after the service has been completed to the agreed standard.
Where a limitation of our liability is permitted by law, our liability is limited to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.
